RESPONSIVE : YCN Churchill - development

Churchill is not a dog :

Before :
This is the cover that needs adapting to make it feet with the rest of the style of the pack. It was flagged up in the crit that due to the vector image of the paw it doesn't fit in with the rest of the pack, which I agree with, so will change it.

After :
This is the after of changing the cover. I changed the vectored paw print to a hand rendered drawing of a paw print instead, which flows allot better with the design, and no longer looks out of place. I also changed the image of Churchill to add a bit of variation from the cover. The name of the book seemed too long every time I've written it on the blog I've shortened it to 'Churchill is not a dog' which seems allot more snappy, so have decided to change the book name. The title is intersected by the line of the black box to cross out the dog part, to drum home further that Churchill is not a dog.

Become Churchill - Hat :

Something I realised was missing from the pack was the top hat, which is a key part of the dress up pack so needed to be included. It is designed in the same was as the other parts of the dress up kit, using the red colour for the cut line and using a simple clear layout. The size of this is bigger thought, A3 and will be folded in half to fit in the A4 pack and match the other A4 parts of the dress up kit. The reason for it being bigger is to make sure the hate is of a substantial size and not tine.

Scratch cards :

I wanted to make an interactive, fun way of finding out information about Churchill as it is important for the child to know WHO Churchill was as well recognise him.

From researching ways of revealing things I discovered scratch cards. This is an exciting and mysterious way of revealing information and is also easy to mock up yourself as from research I found you can do it by mixing washing up liquid and acrylic paint.

This is the information that will be revealed :

A short bio of who Winston Churchill is.

Key facts about Churchill.

An invitation to become Winston Churchill, encouraging the audience to use the dress up kit and upload pictures to face book of them dressed as Churchill. This will appeal to the social media side of the younger generation and add a more viral feel to the campaign.

Facebook:

Below is the facebook page that is set up so that people can interact and dress up as Churchill. You can download the images of the dress up kit so it is readily available at all times. There is also a link on the page to the official Winston Churchill page so that people can research more about him. Facts will also be posted to the Churchill page to maintain the learning aspect as well as the fun.

Stickers :

I have developed stickers to go in the pack as well, because I feel they are a good way of making things go viral. People enjoy sticking stickers everywhere and people notice them, which will make them ask questions and start to recognise who Churchill is.
